Once we get a vegetation map, the next step is to create the vertebrate distribution maps. Because of the impossibility of surveying all breeding vertebrate species across the entire state, we must develop models which predict the distributions of species based primarily on known range and habitat preferences. We will be developing a distribution model for each native vertebrate species in North Carolina.
